50-minute sessionsLicensed in ORAccepting new patients

The person behind the practice.

I'm Dr. Miriam Mason, a licensed psychologist who works with trauma. I founded Hollow Tree Therapy because people who run toward the worst day of someone else's life deserve a room where they can set their own down, without performing and without being fixed. My training spans trauma-focused therapy, Somatic Experiencing, EMDR and attachment theory. What matters more than any credential is steadiness: I can sit with what you bring, and I will not hurry you through it. Before private practice I worked in a hospital behavioral health department and at a community mental health center that served people without much insurance. That shaped how I think about access and respect. Outside the office you will find me hiking Forest Park with my dog, reading poetry or tending a garden that is somewhat out of hand. I think therapists should be fully human too.

Your first message can be a few lines. There are no intake forms to fill in first, and no pressure.

What the room is for

Three things you can count on, whatever we are working on.

  • Pace

You choose how fast we go, and we can stop at any point.

  • Privacy

Your records stay private except where the law requires otherwise. I explain those limits first.

  • Choice

You can say no to a method, a question or a topic, and nothing changes in how I work with you.
